COMPUTEX Taipei cancels onsite exhibition for 2021 event, now an online event

The Taipei International Information Technology Show a.k.a. COMPUTEX Taipei is a computer show that is held annually in Taiwan. It is one of the biggest computer trade shows in the world, and just like a lot of other tech shows, it too has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers have now announced the cancellation of this year’s in-person event and will now have it online.

In an official statement put out this week on the official COMPUTEX Taipei website, it was revealed that the onsite exhibition for this year has been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic and border control that affects the majority of the stakeholders, international exhibitors, visitors, and media.

Previously, the plan was to have a hybrid event that combines the onsite experience with a virtual one. However, the recent development means that there will only be a virtual one.

The last COMPUTEX event was held back in 2019 before the pandemic. Last year’s event was first postponed from June to late September before it was eventually canceled due to safety concerns. This year’s event is scheduled to hold between June 1 and June 5.
